Sustainability within our group of Lake District Hotels

We are an environmentally conscious company with the aim of reducing our impact on the planet.

Thermostatic radiators
Underfloor heating in new bathrooms
Low flush toilet to save water where possible
Sealy Beds manufactured within 20 miles (reducing carbon footprint on transport)
Roll out of vegan duvets and pillow with filling made from recycled plastic bottles
Coffee and tea wrapped in paper packaging
QR code in room for online room directory

Replacing all kettles with smaller, rapid boil kettles (to reduce energy use on boiling unnecessary water)
Energy saving lighting all LED as standard in all newly refurbed rooms
Increased use of recycled materials where possible in bedroom refurbishments
Use of refillable, eco toilettries
Reduction of single use plastic in all hotel bedrooms
In room info letting guests know what sustainable measures are in place and what they can do to contribute
All curtains are interlined for good insulation to prevent heat loss

Low energy lights which dim automatically in Spa and any new refurbished hotel corridors
Ecoknit towels in Spa - most energy efficient towels in the world
Reduce plastic usage where possible
Furnitrue is reupholstered and reused wherever possible
Furniture donation to charities and locals for upcycling
Old equipment is recycled and/or donated
Waste collection where all materials are recycled
Sedum roof rollout where possible
Electric car charging points
Switching to electric vehicles for company use
Red squirrel habitat support

Cleaning product is now concentrated to reduce the large amount of cleaning plastic bottles usage
Recycling cardboard & glass
All kitchen oil recycled
Laundry invested in new energy efficient washers and driers
Environmentally friendly chemicals which we can also wash at lower temperatures
All cleaning chemicals are biodegradable after 28 days (with the exception of the Mould and Mildew, drain unblocker and urinal enzyme cleaner)

Getting deliveries sent in cardboard and not single serving plastic boxes
Getting food loosely wrapped e.g. steaks and veg, and not vac-packed
Recycling cooking oil by returning to the supplier
Using plastic containers with plastic lids instead of clingfilm
Upcycle food e.g. breakfast pastries into croissant butter pudding for staff meals
Using local food and local suppliers
Using seasonal produce
